The iPhone 8 has a 5.5-inch LCD Multi-Touch display with an Aluminum frame. The Aluminum frame has plastic molded into specific areas to provide mounting surfaces and support for internal components. From the outside of the device only two screws are visible on either side of the charging port. Various Fasteners in the assembly can be replaced with TackPins, TackSert, Rotary Install Fasteners, Clamp disk fasteners, or microPEM® screws.
Below are certain alternatives featuring several PEM® fasteners that can help achieve better functionality and cost savings.

PennEngineering® can provide all off these screws with different design solutions.
PEM has license with TORX ®, TORX PLUS®, MICROSTIX® driver and self-tapping thread
patent such as TAPTITE, FASTITE, REMFORM and REMFORM F.
The screws that are used to hold the major components of the device to the plastic sub-frame can be
replaced by TackSert® pins. The TackSert® pins are a permanent solution but the press-in
installation is significantly quicker than the typical screw assembly.
TackPin fasteners can be used where a thin sheet is joined to a ductile metal and serviceability
is not needed. The tack pin provides a fast permanent joint and provides a cost savings
as well as reduces the overall head height of the fastener.
PEM® Rotary Installed Fasteners |

The Rotary installed fastener provides an alternative to laser welded or other joining methods
used in extremely thin sheet applications. The Rotary install method protects the
backside of the sheet preventing deformation while providing a permanent joint between
the fastener and the sheet. This is ideal for applications where the opposite side is
a cosmetic surface that shouldn’t be damaged on installation.
ClampDisk™ Press-on Fasteners |

The clamp disk provides a fast and simple way of joining two sheets together. The clamp disk
is a removable part which provides a clamping load thanks to the downward facing flanges
along its perimeter. This could be used to replace many welded nut and screw assemblies within this device.
